ABSENT NEED

Absent from you now

Now I wonder how

How you are to me

Me and mind together, together in feeling true

True to hold you tight

Tight as possibly can

Can the hour roll on

On to that time

Time for us to have

Have and have again

Again full body of you

You who come in

In to a fizzing yet fizzling life

Making of it a joy

Joy and celebration part

Part of all the sense

Sense my need

Need …..

Personal take

Not too difficult to fathom out the issue here. All too often in life our fires our rekindled and complications of distance or circumstance lead to what seems an unfair separation.

What is left is the thought of what one had, the experience and the knowingness had, and the desire that circumstances may permit a return to or a continuation of something which proved special.

The reflection leads to an acknowledgement and an inner awareness which might not otherwise be easily recognised. The result is a certain tenderness and freedom of spirit. Hope is in abeyance but there is no despair but a coveted sense of optimism.

Tension and impact, and need to read on, are created by the shortness of the lines, and the use of the final word repeated as the first word heightens the drama.
